OUR GIRLS AND COMMUNITY
For all its success creating culture worldwide, Los Angeles is experiencing rising inequality, recently exacerbated by COVID. While touted as the era of personal possibility and female empowerment, intersecting systemic inequities are leaving behind far too many girls of color growing up in Los Angeles. Lack of resources, access to career pathways and opportunities are limiting their ability to thrive and achieve their full potential.
Through the Girls Inc. Experience, our professionally trained staff and volunteers provide mentorship, supportive spaces and programming that address the unique challenges girls face and are proven to help girls succeed.
We cultivate pro-girl environments where girls are encouraged to take risks, learn from experiences and grow.

Girls Inc. has championed girls for 161 years, building self-esteem, developing life skills and enabling academic achievement.
By 5th grade, girls are half as active as boys in physical activities, leading to increased risk of long-term negative health impacts.
Post Girls Inc. programming, 80% of girls report they believe they can be good at STEM.
