Girls Inc. LA Programming

The unique challenges girls face today are extremely difficult to navigate and overcome.

Unfortunately, most co-ed programming is designed using boys as the norm, meaning girls’ specific needs often go unmet in settings that are not designed expressly for them.

Girls Inc.’s evidence-based programming helps girls grow up healthy, educated and independent.

Girls Inc. of Los Angeles offers research-based programming to empower girls ages 6-18 during key stages of their development.

Our Program Pillars:

  • S T R O N G

Mind / body programs that encourage
girls to make positive choices for both
    their bodies and social-emotional
    well-being.

  • S M A R T

Foundational learning programs that spark curiosity, instill critical skills and nurture the ability to imagine and achieve a fulfilling life.

  • B O L D

Connected programs that foster sisterhood, self-knowledge, discovery of passion and self-expression to navigate the world with confidence and emotional resilience.

Girls Inc. of Los Angeles’ model shifts the paradigm. Serving elementary, middle and high school students, we equip girls to defy limitations and stereotypes, focusing on tapping into their strengths, amplifying their talents and envisioning a positive future.

Our focus is helping girls rise through pro-girl results-oriented programs, events and advocacy centered on our pillars.

WHO WE SERVE

We serve 100% girls, including youth identifying as female. The population we serve is 98% girls of color who attend schools classified as “High” or “Highest” needs on the Student Equity Needs Index, a holistic measure that goes beyond just free and reduced lunch rates to look at the environmental and other community factors that impact students’ ability to learn and thrive.

Girls Inc. LA currently partners with twelve Los Angeles Unified School District schools and several community partners to provide year-round programming. We serve girls (including youth identifying as female) ages 6-18 in South Los Angeles, Watts and Venice who attend Title I schools in under-resourced LA neighborhoods where they face intersecting systemic inequities that limit the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

We are committed to ensuring quality programming, measuring our impact, growing sustainably and
making a profound difference in the lives of the girls we are privileged to serve.
